Does our jewelry rust?

Does the jewelry in our store rust or change color?

The answer is simple: it depends on the metal and the composition of the jewelry. Let's clear this up together 😉.

First of all, when you consult a product on our store, you have all the important information, such as: details of the composition of the product, the colors of the stones and metal, the dimensions, the price, the tips for caring for the jewelry, etc.

Sterling Silver (S925):

Our .925 silver products are tenacious and besides, we really like this type of metal because it's affordable and the quality is incredible. You can wear it anytime! Sterling silver does not rust, however it can oxidize and tarnish over time, but don't worry, it's a natural reaction. By gently rubbing the jewelry with a simple polishing wipe, it will regain its shine! It's magical! ✨

Gold colored sterling silver items are actually a very fine plating of gold, usually 14 karat or 18 karat. We recommend removing the jewelry when bathing or using chemicals to preserve it. The plating is fragile and can fade over time, eventually turning silver.

Finally, sterling silver is a great option if you want to have a piece of jewelry that is durable or if you forget to remove your jewelry before washing (obviously not recommended hihi)!

Stainless Steel:

Stainless steel is an increasingly popular metal. As its name indicates, it does not oxidize, rust or turn green on your fingers. You can wear your jewelry under water, while doing sports, it will not move. However, it is best to always rinse the jewelry with clear water if you have been swimming in a chlorinated pool or in the sea, then store it in a pouch to avoid scratches and exposure to chemicals.

The gold filled :

Gold Filled is an American technique, which consists of wrapping a metal (usually copper) with a solid layer of gold. Our Gold Filled jewelry is made from 14K gold and stamped 1/20 14K GF, which means that there is 5% 14K gold. This is stronger than gold plating because the gold that is deposited is thicker. Since it is plated, it is fragile, so we recommend avoiding wearing the jewelry in water and storing it carefully.

We are proud to mention that our Gold Filled products come from a Canadian supplier!

Finally, a piece of jewelry remains fragile and must be cared for, regardless of the material. Our jewelry does not rust, but depending on your use or particular factors, such as the PH of your skin, it is possible that it ages differently and this is normal.
